I love masks in fetish bondage. In particular, I love masks worn by villains, male or female. Now a mask could be anything ranging from a handkerchief, bandanna or scarf tied over the lower part of the face to ski mask or balaclava to to a nylon stocking or pantyhose over the villain's head to a Halloween mask that covers the entire face. What makes masks so wonderful is that the heroine immediately knows that she is in trouble. The villain has announced that he or she is a villain. No subterfuge, no ruse...just I'm here to rob you, kidnap you or have forced intimacy (thank you Captain Kidnap for that term) and I don't want you to know who I am.
The good news for the heroine is that killers usually don't worry about wearing a mask because witnesses are not typically an issue.
Which masks do I think would be most terrifying to a heroine? I have two favorites. One is the nylon stocking or pantyhose over the head. Not only is it a mask, it distorts the villain's face which would add to the terror the heroine is feeling. The downside...honestly...the villain is still showing his or her face. Yes, it is distorted, but the heroine still sees the basic features of the face. If I was a villain, I would be concerned about that. The other problem for the villain, and I know this from personal experience when being the bad guy in videos, a mask of this type makes it hard to breathe and see. This is particularly true when you are handling a struggling heroine. The breathing problem is actually true of any mask that covers the nose.
My all-time favorite, particularly for guy villains, is the white handkerchief over the nose and bottom of the face. This is probably because of my love of the 1940's-1960's era of crime. Add sunglasses and a fedora (or headscarf for a woman) and no one will have a clue who the villain is. It is also easy for the villain to get rid of the mask after the crime...just put it in a pocket or purse. The downside of this type of mask is that it is easy to pull off of the face...which could be bad news for the heroine if she sees the villain's face. Bandannas and scarves are variations on this type of mask.
Down on the list for me is the ski mask or balaclava. These are very effective masks. I can't put my finger on why this isn't at the top of my list. Perhaps it is a more modern type of mask. Perhaps I don't think it would be easy to wear in hot weather. Done that...it isn't comfortable. Still, a great mask.
Halloween type of masks are useful in certain types situations. Depending on how realistic they are, these masks might not be obvious masks, at least from a distance.
Medical masks can be useful in certain situations. But unless you live in Japan, wearing them outside a hospital or medical office would be like wearing any other obvious mask.
A motorcycle helmet might double for a mask in some situations.
My least favorite type of mask is a full face leather mask. I associate this with dungeon type of scenarios that just don't interest me. This is again 'equipment' bondage. An exception would be the full head masks used in Mexican wrestling. These guys walk around in public with those masks and no one questions them...I love it, but they are usually the good guys.
Masks for Heroines?
The purpose of a mask for the heroine would to hide her bondage, specifically her gag. The only masks that make sense for this are the Halloween mask and the ski mask or balaclava. The Halloween mask might be effective if it is realistic or viewed from a distance. A ski mask might be worn in public in cold climates.
We like masks so much that we did a video called Ladies Wearing Masks knottysilkscarf.com/Videos/vid…
